21st Annual Car Show

This was the first show to use the newly acquired showboard.

Also added to the display were the newly acquired bears from Las Vegas, including the Borgified bear that was such a hit that we ended up buying four. Hence his designation as Two of Four.

I figured I might have a shot a Best Display at this point.

The car show was no big deal. The interesting stuff consisted of a Fire Truck (probably my major competitor in the Special Interest category), a Smart Car with a trailer, which one really would need to carry anything in that vehicle since it as zero trunk space, and a Superman-logo'd car.

There was a hot-rodded 1941 Willy's that sort of grabbed me, so I cast my vote for it as People's Choice.

Well, the good news is that I won Best Display. It was an easy win, as there were no entries where people had taken the time to make interesting displays as I had seen at Envy Frenzy. No one even close.

The bad news is that these trophies were made of distributor caps and spark plugs mounted with plaques on boards. I thought that this was the UGLIEST piece of $#!+ I had ever seen given out.

However, I tried to convince myself that, at least they had done something different, which I am always advocating. And, really, how many shiny trophies do you need? (Answer: "More") And furthermore they were using recycled materials.

None of this really left me feeling satisfied. Then during dinner, it hit me.

The trophy had been assimilated by the Borg. Perfect.
